We specialise in the treatment of skin cancer and skin conditions
We offer specialised treatments on-site, including surgical procedures, cryotherapy, chemo wraps and topical sun damage treatment.
Digital Skin Surveillance is available (through a local provider) for comprehensive photographic documentation of sun-affected skin (moles, freckles, sun spots etc).
Most skin cancers are treated surgically wherever possible, because surgical treatment will usually offer the best results. Regional Dermatology has two fully-equipped surgical theatres. For low grade lesions, topical therapy may be possible, and such treatments are supervised by the dermatologist.
Acne: Early treatment is recommended, before scarring can occur. Dermatologists are the only providers who can prescribe medications for severe acne.
Allergies: A Patch Testing Clinic to identify contact allergies is conducted on an ‘as needs’ basis. Please note: we do not do skin prick testing. For skin prick testing you will need to see an allergist or immunologist.
Psoriasis, Eczema, Dermatitis and Vitiligo: are treated with Narrow-band UVB Phototherapy (nbUVB) Full Body Cabinet Treatment.
Narrow-band UVB phototherapy uses specially-designed fluorescent light tubes designed to expose the skin to UVB light.
Patients with psoriasis or eczema may find improvement after just five to 10 sessions. For those with vitiligo, improvement can take longer. Other treatments for psoriasis and eczema include oral medications and topical creams.
Other skin conditions
Many other skin conditions can be diagnosed and managed by a dermatologist, including tinea and hair and nail disorders.
Narrow-band UVB phototherapy treatment
For full body treatments, patients stand in the centre of a cabinet surrounded by fluorescent light tubes. Exposure is built up over time, beginning with less than 30 seconds up to a maximum of six to eight minutes, depending on skin type and response to treatment.
Treatment sessions are usually held two to three times per week. No appointment is necessary – treatments are on a ‘drop in’ basis at our Albury rooms on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 8.00am and 5.15pm.
UVB phototherapy and other treatments are also available at our UVB centres in Yarrawonga, Wangaratta and Shepparton.
Narrowband UVB Phototherapy for Hands and Feet
A special machine is also available in Albury for skin conditions which affect the upper and lower hands and feet.
Note: There are no out of pocket expenses for UVB treatment
